London, UK: This September Campari®, Italy’s iconic red bittersweet apéritif, will be bringing two of Milan’s greatest exports: Campari and creativity – to London with a 10-day residency in King’s Cross – ‘Campari Creates’. The residency will see Campari bring the spirit of Milan’s stylish Navigli district, famous for its picturesque canals and fashionable bars, to central London.

Running from 14th to 24th September in the Granary Square area of Kings Cross, the ‘Campari Creates’ residency will feature a public art installation by Eley Kishimoto and a series of masterclasses allowing people to get creative whilst sipping a Campari cocktail. The residency will culminate in a Campari partnership with designjunction, a cutting-edge design show which runs in Kings Cross between 21st – 24th September.

As the artists-in-residence for ‘Campari Creates’, Eley Kishimoto has been commissioned by the brand to design a bespoke art installation featuring the iconic Campari lettering in the Granary Square area of Kings Cross. Renowned duo Eley Kishimoto strive to create work that rejects passing trends and fads, making them the perfect artistic partner for Campari’s iconic and timeless style.

Eley Kishimoto’s design is inspired by the designs that the Futurist, Fortunato Depero, created for Campari in the 30’s. The illusion of depth is created within the flat surface of the structure to transform the 2D into 3D. The applied design adds another playful dimension to the Campari letters working with this trick whilst remaining in harmony with the current Campari logo. Eley Kishimoto have named the design Decopari.

Eley Kishimoto says, “We were particularly inspired by the Futurism art movement in Italy in the 30’s and wanted to create our own modern and graphic work with Campari’s iconic logo. The playful dimension created on each letter represents the multi-layered flavour of Campari. It is an honour to join the company of the esteemed designers who have created works of art for Campari, and to have the chance to develop our own interpretation of this iconic brand.”

This installation continues Campari’s rich heritage in creativity and design, having commissioned some of the world’s most influential artists to create advertising and packaging which are true ‘works of art’ for its iconic product. Artists such as Marcello Dudovich, Leonetto Cappiello and Bruno Munari have all been a part of Campari’s design evolution. For more information on Campari’s art and design legacy, please see:

The ‘Campari Creates’ residency will also serve a selection of cocktails created by Campari dating back from the beginning of the last century to today. Guests can sample drinks linked closely to the city of Milan – such as the Milano Torino and the Milanese G&T – alongside some of Campari’s most famous serves; including the Negroni and the Americano.

During the residency, Campari will also run a series of ‘Campari Creates’ masterclasses, allowing attendees to get creative whilst sipping one of Campari’s signature serves. Masterclasses include:
